Junction between the Pyghtle with Ampthill Road
Reported via desktop in the Road markings and lining category anonymously at 14:21, Fri 5 January 2024
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council 1 minute later. Council ref: 399500.
CArs parked on Ampthil Road are restricting view of oncoming traffic when pulling out of the Pyghtle. Problem has become worse since double yellow lines were addded towards the roundabout. Cars accelerate up and down the Ampthill between the first-speed hump and the A600 roundabout. Night time is worse than ever with parked cars and vans blocking visibility. Only a matter of time before there is a serious accident. Please can the double yellow be extended to the first speed hump on Ampthill Road. For example, you can see from the pictures how cars block the Pyghtle entrance and make it impossible to see oncoming traffic. My neighbour of 124 Ampthill Road also suffers from lack of visibility by parked cars and vans.

Thank you for contacting us with information relating to a Highways issue. Requests for speed limit changes/traffic calming will be reviewed and prioritised accordingly against all other requests across the county. We do not alter speed limits based on the perception of an issue. Requests will be reviewed based on a number of factors including collision history and independent traffic volume and speed counts over a 7 day, 24 hour period, along with meeting suitability with DfT guidance and prioritised accordingly. Should the request meet all the criteria it may be added to the Capital Works Programme for future years.
