Verge/junction of the roundabout approaching the white lion retail park on boscombe road

Reported via desktop in the Signs category anonymously at 18:36, Monday 12 February 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 401711.

On the very dodgy verge/junction coming onto the roundabout the bollard sign has been hit (unsurprisingly as the verge/curb is so poorly lit/signposted) making the junction and the roundabout barely visible. It is so dangerous and an accident has already happened here to take the sign out!

  • Almost a month later and nothing has been done about this. The sign is still flattened and nothing has been done to increase lighting or replace signage to avoid this happening again. The junction is a verge towards a roundabout which comes out of nowhere and can't be seen at the best of times. The fact there has already been an accident here should encourage the council to address the danger immediately, but they haven't even removed the old broken bollard. Reckless attitude to road safety.

  • Another month goes by and the original safety bollard has still not even been removed let alone a solution found for the evidently dangerous junction. The road is also littered with potholes, just a constant danger to motorists

  • Thank you for submitting your Highways report.
Due to current budget constraints, we are having to prioritise repairs for defects that pose higher risks in accordance with our Network Management Maintenance Plan assessment criteria, the details of which can be found online http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ transport/ roads-strategies/ highways-asset-management.aspx

After inspecting the reported issue, our engineers have determined that this doesn't currently feature as a priority for repair. Rest assured, we'll continue to monitor the defect during future inspections. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your report.

    Many thanks,
    Central Bedfordshire Council Highways
