The whole length of the Tring Road, from the 50mph sign just outside of Dunstable

Reported via desktop in the Signs category anonymously at 12:39, Tuesday 7 May 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 406376.

Good afternoon, I have a reference for this already 404685, but nothing came up on your system. Basically there is only one 50mph sign as you leave Dunstable towards Tring, then the speed camera, but no other signs afterwards, which means cars speed along the dual carriageway just after the camera well in excess of 50mph, and also overtake at dangerous speeds where the dual carriageway becomes a single carriageway. Our query was shouldn't there be more signs every 8 lamp-posts or equivalent distance apart. If the Council are unable to supply these can we put our own up (obviously with the correct speed on)? Nearly every day we hear someone skidding or bibbing their horn and it is dangerous for any residents trying to emerge onto the B489, or return home in their cars. As for crossing the road!!!! Your help would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards

  • Good afternoon Please can you let me have an updated on this case. The road hasn't got any better, in fact it is worse. Cars are now overtaking after the dual carriageway has become a single carriageway or pulling in sharply if something is coming the other way. A 'your speed' sign would also be good as vehicles must be travelling at least 60mph plus. Again, we are happy to get our own sign, however there isn't an option to put it on our bins as that then obstructs the view when emerging. Thank you.

I have added this location to a list of sites that I am yet to investigate. I have not been able to identify all the signs on Streetview so I may need to visit the site. Can you please advise the customer that we have added it to our list for a site assessment. Thank you
