Hope all is well. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. We moved to Walton Close in Shefford in 2014 and whilst I knew that there is a lamp post outside our house we have decided that during the years and with situations changing the lamp post is becoming a problem for us as a family. It is situated right on the corner of our drive before the pavement starts but actually on our drive. We had two smaller cars when we moved here in 2014 and during the last few years we have changed cars to suit family and vocations which has meant there is very limited space outside our house without hitting the lamp post when opening our car doors. My previous car had dents from the lamp post and I have had to pay for repair work to be done on both mine and my wife’s car. Some further unfortunate news within our family is that we have three disabled people that visit us regularly and parking and exiting the vehicle has become very stressful for these people/ My father for example is disabled and mobility is compromised so he needs to open his door wide to exit the vehicle. He has sadly come into problems parking and getting out of his car at our house which has resulted in injury and dents on his drivers side car door. My Mother in law is also disabled and she has had problems exiting her car even when one of the cars is moved as, if the wind picks up the door will swing open which has hit the post. We feel that the lamp post would be best moved from it’s location but still in the near vicinity. We have had to park across our drive and on the pavement but do not do this anymore as neighbours have said they find it difficult to back into their house (and are also disabled) We have discussed this situation with our neighbours who are very accommodating about it being relocated slightly and understand our frustrations. When the lamp post was erected pre 2014 it was done with no notifications and was put in whilst the owners of the house had travelled to work. They were not informed that work was due to be done but they moved before their investigation was concluded. It is becoming a very stressful problem for us now with a family and bigger cars. I have had to tie some blue rubber matting around the base of the lamp post as my door has hit it a few times which has really upset me. (Pic enclosed) I actually work for CBC so I spend a few days in Priory house each week so if you can point me in the right direction and I can follow this up with the relevant team when I have time. Perhaps I could talk with someone face to face when I am in next?
