157 London Road, Biggleswade

Reported via mobile in the Trees category anonymously at 17:07, Tuesday 23 July 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 409619.

I would like to raise an issue with the tree that is on a highways verge outside my house.

I believe it is a lime tree and it's dropping a lot of sap on our cars that are parked on our drive. So much that I have to clear the windscreen every time I drive my car, even if it was only 6 hours since using it. It smears when using the windscreen wiper and sometimes needs wiping properly. Not just the windscreen, but the whole car is covered.

Please can this be looked into? The tree sap is damaging our cars.

Many thanks

Updated by Central Bedfordshire Council at 17:07, Tuesday 23 July 2024

  • Unfortunately, as per our Tree Policy, we are under no obligation to prune trees due to seasonal issues such as sap drop, bird mess, leaf drop, etc. If damage is caused to private property by a CBC Assets, such as a tree, customers can request a claims form, which our customer services team can send upon request.

Additionally, due to current budget constraints, we are having to prioritise repairs for defects that pose higher risks in accordance with our Network Management Maintenance Plan assessment criteria, the details of which can be found online http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ transport/ roads-strategies/ highways-asset-management.aspx

    Many thanks,
