Biggleswade Road / Maisie Gardens

Reported via desktop in the Road Surface category anonymously at 12:50, Thu 8 August 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 410125.

Having reported the large dip in the road previously and been told it is part of the "housing developer's 278 agreements" we wondered if any progress has been made with them please ?

  • Thank you for submitting your Highways report.
Due to current budget constraints, we are having to prioritise repairs for defects that pose higher risks in accordance with our Network Management Maintenance Plan assessment criteria, the details of which can be found online http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ transport/ roads-strategies/ highways-asset-management.aspx

After inspecting the reported issue, our engineers have determined that this doesn't currently feature as a priority for repair. Rest assured, we'll continue to monitor the defect during future inspections. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your report.

    Many thanks,
    Central Bedfordshire Council Highways

Thank you for your reply and I do know what the inspectors report said but my point is we feel that it has now become a danger as you have to swerve to avoid it, so I was wondering there was any more progress please as it has dragged on for a long time now and should the council not be chasing the developer harder if it is partly their problem ?

  • Thank you for submitting your Highways report.
This issue is still awaiting the developer to resolve as it is their contractural duty to do so. CBC continue to monitor the area and will intervene if there becomes a safety concern.

    Many thanks,
