Chessum Road

Reported via mobile in the Road Surface category anonymously at 17:19, Thu 8 August 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 410134.

This road has been resurfaced in accordance with a country lane and not a residential street. The contractors told cbc that spraying loose chips wasn't the best option due to the shape of the road and the fact that not enough traffic goes through to flatten it. As we have all vehicles turning at the end of the road before it dried it has left an ugly uneven surface. Also the bitumen spray has gone all over the place, missed areas and it's covered the kerbs. It's disgraceful and needs to be relaid how it was originally completed.

  • When is this road going to be returned to its original state? The current surface is unacceptable and has not been sealed. The surface can be picked off with your hands and it will constantly crumble away. It looks and absolute eyesore. No other residential street looks like this and it is appalling.

  • More heavy lorries are turning round at the end of the road and churning up even more of the surface which isn't sealed. It I'd getting more and more bumpy and uneven. Loose chips becoming dislodged daily and flicking everywhere. Needs to be resurfaced properly.
