Dark abandoned buildings, areas and footpaths along the canal, Leighton Road and Canal Bridge 114 junction used by homeless.

Reported via mobile in the Bridges category anonymously at 17:05, Monday 26 August 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 410680.

Hello, there should be a modern well-lit canal and bridge here. Please can Central Bedfordshire Council build a modern monumental bridge and add more ambiant lighting along the canal. This would help reduce crime and increase community pride.

This busy, pivotal, central bridge has dark areas of abandoned buildings and land all around it on show. Just south of the bridge land that is overgrown, ill-lit and graffitied is used by rough sleepers, north of it are dark abandand buildings along the canal and dark areas in the Tescos car park used by homeless people, underneath the bridge there are also similar problems.

These areas around the junction could be used by shops, restaurants and monuments, but instead it's used by homeless people and car parks.

From what I've seen all of the other prosperous towns in the UK have their focal points around their beautiful bridges and heritage sites.

Thank you.
