Vinegar Hill southbound entering into 30mph area
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 410805.
As you can see in the photos that, when approaching the 30 mph speed limit signs, they are not visible until vehicles are within a few feet of the signs. As the vehicles should be decelerating from national speed limit into the visible 40mph area as they enter Upper Caldecote village around 45mph. There are two dropped kerb pedestrian crossings, 2 roads from different sides of the road from approx 50 houses and then the crossroad, past the school bus pickup point and bus stop. Although there are road markings indicating 30mph speed limit these are usually obscured by the vehicle in front. The first obvious indication of the 30mph speed limit is the speed camera ( which is currently out of order). Next week the children will be returning to school, crossing this road to get to school or school bus! There is an electronic speed indicator sign installed before the crossroads, which hasn’t worked for 2 years! I fear at the speed the vehicles (including 38 ton juggernauts) are travelling there will be a fatal accident involving a child or elderly person.
