23 Western Way

Reported via desktop in the Trees category anonymously at 10:04, Monday 9 September 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 411159.

I am writing to express my deep frustration regarding the recent tree trimming on Western Way. While I appreciate the work done to address the overgrown trees, I am extremely disappointed that the tree directly outside my house—despite me being the one to raise the original complaint—was not properly trimmed.

I spoke directly with the team that was trimming the trees, and they informed me that the council has deemed the tree outside my house to be a "weed." I would appreciate a clear explanation of what this classification means. If it is considered a weed, why has it been treated differently from the others on the road? Can it be fully removed, especially given the ongoing hazard it poses when reversing or entering my driveway?

Furthermore, although the tree was supposedly trimmed, I can still see that the lamp post remains covered, continuing to block the light. The job has not been done properly as one would expect—especially when a ladder or more thorough equipment should have been used to ensure the tree is sufficiently cut back.

Additionally, my neighbor is equally frustrated by this situation and has expressed their intention to raise a formal complaint as well. The lack of proper action on this tree is affecting multiple households and has not been handled adequately.

It is unacceptable that while other trees have been properly trimmed, the one I raised concerns about—the one directly impacting my property—was ignored or inadequately addressed. I raised this issue due to the significant safety risks it poses, and it is deeply frustrating that my concerns have not been properly resolved.

I strongly urge the council to take immediate action to either remove or properly trim this tree. This issue directly affects the safety of my household, and I expect it to be resolved as a priority.

Please ensure that this matter is addressed without further delay.

Best regards,
