16 Bowling Green Road, MK430ET

Reported via desktop in the Pavement and Cycle path category anonymously at 14:06, Thursday 12 September 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 411306.

Underneath the stop cock cover out on the pavement the housing that contains the meter within the ground is falling over. I've contacted AWA who have visited today and they have said it is not their issue because their equipment is not at fault. It would seem that the soil has shifted and pushed the chamber over. Recently in the last 12 months holes have been dug in the footpath and subsequently filled in. Today was the first time I needed to turn the mains water off and it was nigh on impossible because of the rubble and mud in the chamber which was not there two years ago. When the whacker plate was used to re-establish the footpath it would now seem that in compacting the ground around my meter chamber they have compromised the integrity of the chamber and rendered accessing the meter and water tap almost impossible. Your thoughts on this issue are urgently required lest the water needs to be turned off. I am a pensioner with diminishing mobility and would not be able to dig the chamber free of falling debris in the event of the mains needing to be turned off. Thanks - P K J Harrison
