Entrance to Macie Gardens

Reported via desktop in the Road Surface category anonymously at 14:16, Fri 27 September 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 412293.

This is beyond a joke! The road has been in a dangerous condition for over two years with sunken surface and ironworks due to poor workmanship connecting biggleswade road to the then new development macie gardens. Drivers often swerve to the wrong side of the road in front of oncoming traffic to avoid the sunken area. This issue has been raised several time and still nothing has been done?

  • Thank you for submitting your Highways report.
Due to current budget constraints, we are having to prioritise repairs for defects that pose higher risks in accordance with our Network Management Maintenance Plan assessment criteria, the details of which can be found online http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ transport/ roads-strategies/ highways-asset-management.aspx

After inspecting the reported issue, our engineers have determined that this doesn't currently feature as a priority for repair. It is not yet dangerous, and works are planned by the developer to resurface this area leading into their estate.
Rest assured, we'll continue to monitor the defect during future inspections. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your report.

    Many thanks,
    Central Bedfordshire Council Highways
