Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6557556.
B5 Bridleway extension is too overgrown to use at all. BOATs 23 and 28 have low overhanging trees joining at eye level making them dangerous to use. This is forcing horse-riders, cyclists and walkers to use the roads more and more as the bridleways are impassable. They have been getting more and more overgrown all summer Can you help clear them please? many thanks

Thank you for your report. Bridleway 5 is not on our public rights of way annual grass cutting contract and never has been. We do not currently have the budget to add anything to the contract. We are looking to see if local volunteers from the Flitwick and Flitton and Greenfield groups (there is not currently any footpath volunteer group in Westoning) might be able to help us cut the vegetation back on this path. The Council is only responsible for vegetation growing out of the surface of paths as budget allows. Side and overhanging hedge vegetation would be for the landowner to cut back. I will do a land registry search to find out the owner of the land over which public bridleway no. 5 runs. Byways 23 and 28 run over unregistered land. The Westoning 23 section is on our annual grass cutting contract and should be cut back soon. The Harlington 28 section is not currently on our annual grass cutting contract and never has been. The officer for that area will consider adding it for next year.
