Opposite number 5 Station Road Potton TWO lights not working

Reported via desktop in the Not Turning on category by Sylvia Fuller at 20:47, Mon 7 October 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 412861.

Two Main Street lights not working for weeks and Station Road between Willow Road and Chapel Street in darkness. Part of this stretch has no pavement and very dangerous to walk home at night or come out of gate.

Updates

  • Customer has called chasing up an update saying that the light is still not working and needs to be fixed as soon as possible as is very dangerous for residents that use that road as it's very narrow and now it's getting dark very early and espacialy for the cildren going home from school.

  • Saturday 8th December: still no action and still in pitch dark on very busy stretch of road between Willow Road and Horslow Street. I believe this URGENT because this is route for children on route to school now coming home in darkness along a narrow pavement with very HEAVY traffic who often speeding. The Council surely has a duty of care to keep pavement lit? Also as reported opposite side of road no pavement at all and very dangerous to come out of gate in darkness into traffic. The lamp post on Station Road opposite my house is marked NUMBER 9.

  • 27 December: over TWO MONTHS and still in The dark on Station Road near busy junction between Willow Road and Chapel Street despite reporting on this website and ringing council direct. Narrow pavement used by children going to school, mothers with buggies and elderly folk with speeding traffic (limit 20th) but ignored by motorists. Wondering what it takes to change a light bulb in Potton!

  • Good morning,

We are extremely sorry for the poor response since your issue was reported. Our streetlighting team attended the streetlight in November and reported that the issue was resolved however it is clear that the lamp has failed again. I have ordered another repair which will hopfully be completed ASAP.

Once again, we sincerely apologise for the lack of response and trouble this issue has caused you.

    Many thanks,
    Central Bedfordshire Council Highways
