Bus Link between Groveburu Farm close + Grovebury Road (Sytner)

Reported via mobile in the Pavement and Cycle path category anonymously at 14:35, Tue 26 November 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 414960.

Large amounts of greenery have spawned over the past couple months, mainly “stingy nettles”. They grew very tall and then started intruding into our boundary and damaging the fencing. Eventually they toppled over but towards the footpath on the bus link which is majority covered in the highlighted area now.

Due to the high winds I have had a few broken fence panels and admittedly these plants and the previous damage they caused during the initial growth are playing into how brittle the fencing is becoming.

I would like to request some urgent maintenance to clean up this area as it is not only disturbing my boundary via the greenery going under and or through my fencing, but also a big distraction to people using the footpath for bikes, dog walks + commuting.

  • Thank you for your Highways report.

Due to the restricted budgets we are now working with in comparison to previous years, we are having to prioritise the defects that pose a higher risk in accordance with our Network Management Maintenance Plan. This does mean that not every defect reported to us will be considered as a priority for repair, as we need to ensure what budget we do have is being put towards addressing the most safety critical issues on the network at that moment in time.

Apologies for the fenceline, if indeed damage was caused primarily by a CBC asset, then please fill in the Compensation form found on the Insurance page of our website.

    Many thanks,
    Central Bedfordshire Council Highways
